Ecommerce Website Cost in Pakistan: Shopify vs WooCommerce
An ecommerce website in Pakistan typically costs from about PKR 60,000 for a small store on Shopify or WooCommerce to PKR 200,000 to 600,000 or more for a larger custom store, based on public price guides from Pakistani web providers. Monthly running costs come on top: the platform or hosting fee, payment gateway charges, courier costs and apps.
These are market ranges, not our price list. This guide breaks down the build cost by platform, the running costs most sellers forget, and the Pakistan-specific choices that change the budget, such as cash on delivery and courier integration. For a general overview of all website types, see our guide on how much a website costs in Pakistan.
Ecommerce website cost in Pakistan by store size
| Store size | Typical market range | What it usually includes |
|---|---|---|
| Starter store | About PKR 60,000 to 120,000 | Up to about 50 products, a ready-made theme, cart and checkout, cash on delivery, one payment method |
| Growing store | About PKR 120,000 to 250,000 | Custom design, product filters, variants, courier integration, several payment methods, basic SEO |
| Large or custom store | About PKR 250,000 to 600,000+ | Hundreds or thousands of products, stock sync, custom features, multiple languages or currencies |
Public guides from Pakistani providers draw these bands differently, so treat them as a budgeting starting point. The biggest single driver is not the number of products but how much has to be custom-built.
Shopify vs WooCommerce vs custom: which costs less?
Shopify costs less to start and more to run. WooCommerce costs more to set up properly and less each month. A custom store costs the most and only makes sense when neither platform can do what you need.
| Platform | Monthly platform cost | Good for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shopify | Basic plan from $19 per month billed yearly, or $25 monthly | Fast launch, easy to manage, reliable hosting included | 2% extra fee on Basic when you use a third-party payment provider, plus paid apps |
| WooCommerce (WordPress) | Free plugin, you pay for hosting | Full control, no platform transaction fee, easy to add content and SEO | Needs good hosting, updates and security care |
| Custom build | Hosting and developer support | Unusual checkout, B2B pricing, marketplace features | Highest build cost and every change needs a developer |
The Shopify prices above are in US dollars from Shopify’s pricing page, checked in September 2026. The 2% fee applies on the Basic plan when you use a payment provider other than Shopify’s own, which is the usual setup for stores in Pakistan.
Running costs of an online store in Pakistan
The running costs of an online store in Pakistan are the platform or hosting fee, payment charges, delivery costs and any paid apps or plugins. They often matter more than the build cost over the first two years.
- Domain. A .pk domain costs Rs 2,100 per year at the PKNIC registry, registered two years at a time.
- Platform or hosting. A Shopify plan, or hosting for WooCommerce that can handle traffic peaks during sales.
- Payment gateways. Card gateways and wallets such as JazzCash and Easypaisa charge a percentage per transaction. Compare current rates before choosing.
- Cash on delivery and couriers. Many Pakistani shoppers still pay cash on delivery. Couriers such as TCS, Leopards, PostEx and Trax charge per parcel and for COD handling, and returned parcels cost you twice.
- Apps and plugins. Reviews, upsells, WhatsApp chat and shipping apps often carry monthly fees.
- Content. Product photos and descriptions, especially for large catalogues.
What makes an online store more expensive?
- Product variants. Sizes, colours and fabrics multiply the setup work, especially for clothing stores.
- Courier integration. Booking parcels and printing labels from the store saves hours later but takes time to set up.
- Stock sync. Keeping stock in step with a shop, warehouse or marketplace like Daraz needs extra integration.
- Custom design. A layout built for your brand costs more than a theme, and usually converts better.
- Urdu and English. Two languages roughly double the product content work.
- Speed. Stores with many large images need optimisation work so pages load on mobile data.
Online store or Daraz: which should you start with?
Selling on a marketplace like Daraz costs little to start, because the traffic and checkout already exist, but you pay commission on each sale and compete with similar sellers on the same page. Your own store costs more to build and needs marketing to bring visitors, but you keep the customer relationship, the data and more of each sale. Many Pakistani brands start on a marketplace and build their own store as repeat customers grow.
Getting a quote for your store
To compare quotes fairly, give every provider the same details: number of products and variants, payment methods, couriers, languages, features you need and whether you will supply photos and text. OS Prime Studios builds Shopify and WooCommerce stores, including the Dubai fashion store in our website portfolio, and quotes each store in writing after a short scoping call.
